AMSTEROID is a dark humor science fantasy film about two young brothers who get entangled in a plot to blow up an interplanetary mind-control racket in the course of saving their mom from its sinister boss.
About the filmmakers:
John Higbie is a twenty-year veteran of the visual effects business. A career that began on Michigan films including “Evil Dead II” quickly took him to LA, where he did motion control and vfx camera work on innumerable commercials, and films including “Titanic,” “The Fifth Element,” “Stealth,” “The Time Machine,” “The Shadow,” and “Batman Returns.” After several years as a department head at renowned effects house Digital Domain, he seized an opportunity to make a quality-of-life move to his home state of Michigan and direct his own sci-fi script, “Amsteroid.”
Diane Cheklich is an independent director and producer from the Detroit area. Her feature film directorial debut, OFFSHORE, an Indo-American movie that was shot in both India and the U.S., is currently in post-production. She produced the feature, TRAP, a psychological thriller written and directed by James Bonner, which is currently playing the festival circuit. Diane has also written and directed several short films, including the award-winning experimental short titled LATE, which has screened in over 50 cities in the United States and played in festivals around the world.
